Just got the missing socket from Apex. Glad I could call them directly and get such great results as Sears was no help.

I had the same problem. Bought the Craftsman SAE hex socket set, it came with (2) 7/16!!.... I took the one socket back about 2 weeks later and explained what happened. The guy said I needed my receipt. I immediately left and I think that was the last time I've been inside a Sears. I'll spend more on gas driving back and forth then what the crappy socket is worth.

why not call and have them send it out on their dime?

Well, to be fair, you didn't follow the directions in the package that told you what to do.

Sears should have been able to direct you to the Apex number more easily, but you also should have read the directions.

You do realize that sets will still be made in USA?

You do realize that rp wrenches and sockets still are made in usa?

You do realize that many sears still have alot of NOS usa stuff on the shelves and hanging on the hooks?

+1.....My Sears store has a lot of USA made hand tools on the shelves: sockets, ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, squares, chisels, bandsaw blades, etc.

However, anything with a motor in it seemed to be from China. Anything that had more than a few moving parts seemed to be from China.

I go there for the USA made goods. The rest of it? Well, I then pick the best China-made tool I can get for my money.

There are no directions for what to do about missing pieces in the package. I think it is a reasonable assumption to call the number on the receipt.
