What are the header beam over the door openings made from ? I'm sure they are correct but just look small. Looks to be a LVL or something ?

Exxxxcellent. Posting that part here too, or over on HBT?

Probably here, once I get to it. It will be part of "phase 1" so it should be done by the end of summer.

They are 6" x 10" Glulam beams (so 5 1/2" x 9 1/2"). These were per my engineered drawings. They were not cheap :(

Bad news. We had a freak wind storm on the coast this past weekend, and THIS happened:

Still gathering my thoughts on this whole thing really. We have a LOT of time and money into this thing. I met with my Insurance adjuster today and he informed me that I have coverage for a "Separate Structure" on my home owner plan, but it's only covered for up to 10% of the cost of the home. This gives me a max of $27,100 to clean up the mess and frame it back up. Totally doable, but glad I didn't have anything of any real value inside.

What happened? the back wall blew out and the trusses were sent over attached to the two short walls. It managed to sever the hurricane clips and the steel strapping. Only the first 8' was sheeted. It also broke 3 diagonal 2x4 braces holding the wall up from the ground. I don't get it, and neither does my contractor. the Insurance adjuster said he's never seen anything like it before.

Down, not out... but I may have to put the project off for a while due to the incoming weather. As of today, my separate structure insurance is $60k max, which costs me a whopping $66 a year.
