Tonight's Fails.

It happens. Given enough time, and use, stuff breaks.
Tonight, I managed to snap off my Snap On 1/2 to 3/8 adapter. I wasn't trying to do anything extreme. Lug nuts, which are only supposed to be 80-85ft lbs. I only had a 3/8" drive 19mm in my road box. Sheared the square right off of it. Going to have to wait on the tool room to replace that.

Blew up my Gearwrench roto head ratchet. I had gone for a solid 2 years of daily thrashing before failing. Going to warranty that in the morning, because it is mine, and not company issued/owned. Also failed on when out mobile. Dunno if the cold had anything to do with it. It was colder tonight than it has been the last few.

Snapped the tip of a yellow acetate handle Proto the other week. I reprofiled it, because I have a use for wedge shaped prying tools, and it isn't the only flat in my box.

What have your recent failures been?

Roto ratchet out until Monday. Gotta get one shipped in. The price has gone up substantially on it...but hooray for lifetime warranties. Grabbed the long Pitts Pro flex head as a stopgap. Been wanting to give that a spin. It may stay at work, or go into my junkyard box. Depends on many things. Lol.

I KNOW I'm not the only member who's busted stuff on here. I know I'm not the only paid mechanic on here either. Lol. This is not a bashing thread. It's more illustrative in nature. I work as a fleet mechanic. My work tools take a beating. I'll be the first to admit I'm rough on them. My home tools, not as much, because circumstances are different than day in, day out, sometimes six days a week thrashing. Lol.

Oh, it's old alright. Was in my box when issued 2 years ago. The guy prior had retired. It's the older script logo too. Probably tens of thousands of use cycles. That, plus cold...

Nasty. Sometimes when glass replacements get heavy, the guys use the trailer bay. I've been sweeping glass up all week.

I have a couple of the snapon ones. That is why I almost never use them. Try not to use a rubber shot filled dead blow a lot either. Would be pretty ugly to have all that shot contaminate a system you are working on. Id rather use a brass or lead hammer instead.
