I have a friend who is a Ford mechanic at a local dealership. They were throwing away a 6ft tri-fold Extang tonneau cover due to small tear. Unfortunately, I have a SuperCrew with a 5.5ft bed. I can remove the cover and cut down the frame, then reattach the material. Any words of advice from someone who's done this or knows of any articles where this has been done? I'll get some before and after pics when I get a chance to work on it.

My dad got me one of those for my S10 in 2003, and despite his ******* and moaning about the high $300 price tag from the dealer, the wind ripped it 6 months later. Looking at them now, I get sticker shock, and would highly recommend finding a fiberglass one rather than trying to make this one work. Some projects just arent worth the effort IMHO.

About the only thought I'd have is to cut it off at the cab end and attach it to the frame with a strip of metal and screws. I wouldn't try f*&#ing with the sides or tailgate end. I have an Extang cover on my Toyota P/U and, thinking about how it's designed, I don't know how else you could do it.
