Too much belt slap?

I replaced the sheave on my air compressor to slow down the pump. I additionally ordered a new, shorter belt to account for the sheave change. According to Gemini belt tension should be set to about 1/2” deflection at 10lbs force which I did (or close to it). I’m still seeing a significant amount of belt slap when running. Is this typical?

Deflection is a function of belt size, and distance. Does your calculation include both? Also check pulley runout.

Since a compressor is a pulsating load, a certain amount of belt slap is to be expected.

Is the motor the 3450 rpm or the 1725 rpm?

What is the pump rpm?

Looks kinda normal to me.

1750rpm and pump speed is about 750 now
