Too Much Lighting

Guys I'm building a house and having pre-wires put in for overhead lighting and am beginning to wonder if I've had way to many pre-wires put in for the space. The garage is 24x30. I'm cutting one bay off so really 20x24. I have two rows of 4 and one row of three tight to the wall where my bench will go. Each row is on its one switch. If I put lights on all the prewires thats 11 lights for the space. Is that too many? The cieling height is 10 ft. What would you guys recomend for lighting? I was planning on t8 4 bulbs.

Iroc....I don't think you can have too much light. Having three over your work bench will be real nice when you are doing anything on it. JMO I can't get enough light to keep these old eyes happy.IMG_20150822_181100908.jpg

This is 4 85W 6500K bulbs in a 12.5 ceiling. Works well but it could still be better.

My space is 28x31. I used six 6 bulb T5 high bay fixtures with daylight bulbs and love it.

You've got 40 T8 bulbs? I have 60 T8s, although its a 13 feet ceiling, in a 600 sq ft garage (with some task lighting too) and I wish it was 50% more. I think your plan is certainly not overboard.

The total number of bulbs is good enough to make your space very well lit. The use of 4 bulb fixtures may result in shadows. Ideally the fixtures would be spread in more rows to make sure the light is evenly distributed. All the lighting in the world isn't much good if it is behind you causing a shadow to be cast in front of you.

I have a 20 x 24 garage with a 6 tube 4' T12 fixture over the bench, 9 2 x 4' T8 fixtures and 4 8' x 2 T12 fixtures on the ceiling in the rest of the shop and one more 8' x 2 T12 on the wall above the garage door. It's still not enough light even with daylight tubes in all of them.

The T5 H/O bulbs are great very bright and light up quick in the winter. I have 3 8ft lengths of lights on 3 switches with a total of 12 48" bulbs. It's like daylight in there when needed.

I got 30 4 foot T8 bulbs in my 24 x 30 x 10 work shop.
Three rows, 2 - 8ft tandem fixtures and 1 - 4 foot fixture = 10 bulbs each row.
plenty bright, but I like extra light above my bench and machines.
