I've just joined this forum tonite. It's nice to know there is fellas out there who are just like me.I just read on this site that some people go to casinos, some go to the snap on truck. I love it!!!!

I think the saying "its a tax on people that can't do math" would aptly apply to casinos as well as lotteries.
People are as addicted to gambling as a lot of us are to tools and this board.
Hmm..;have never gone to casino or tried the lottery, but might consider it to use the winnings for a visit to the SO truck..

Which I don't have a problem with as long as the "tax" goes where it was originally supposed to go. Around here a large portion of the lottery and gambling money has gotten pidgeon-holed to pet projects that have nothing to do with the original promises.
At least tool and gambking addictions have some hope of return on investment, as opposed to wife's $100+/month book habit. Reads them and throws them away.........

She should at least eBay the books! $.10 on the dollar is better than nothing.
I don't gamble and I don't play the lotto. My addictions come in spurts. This year its hand tools. A few years back it was wood working equipment. Before that, Golf, before that, boats........ At least I have stuff to show for my addictions. For the most part things get used. The only exception to that are the custom made golf clubs. Since my back injury, I haven't even tried to swing a club.
With the direction it appears the economy is going, collecting tools you know how to use actually seems like a good idea. There will be a lot of people doing it themselves in a bad economy. (Can you tell I have tried to justify this to myself?????) I know how to do a lot of varied things. I choose to pay others to do things because I can, not because I don't know how to do them.

just ordered a new Snap on KRA4114D top chest.Can't wait. I've wanted one since I was 14 yrs old. My uncle had a nice full snap on box when i was a kid. I think that's where it started. Ordered it in red, the way they should be(in my opinion). Does anyone know if they come with drawer liners or not(and maybe a sticker or two?)Paid $1300 can.

We finally agree on something! Some people buy baseball cards, others drink their money away. Still others go to strange places and blow their money on stupid casino games. I buy tools.

I'm just going to set it on a homemade steel roller cabnet for now. I'd like the matching roller cart from snap on but you know($$$$), wife saz enough for now. Just finished making some sweet wrench holders tonite(will hopfully post pics). They are easy to make,my dad used to makeum years ago. A little buff and paint and good to go.Funny thing about a tool addiction though, spend lots on snap on flash and bling but still put homemade organizers in it, go figure. I guess I like the look of homebuilt sometimes.

now get out there and buy buy buy and stimulate that economy there is no thing as to many tools buy the best you can aford and buy used if possible will save you big time

I can't stand casinos. Two of them locally. I can't say any more without being politically incorrect.
One of them also houses a bowling alley. The only bowling alley in town. Our schools send students on bowling field trips. Great, eh?

I am also recent victim of this site and accidently getting a snap on screwdriver in my hand.... Until now I was somehow getting away with random set of crappy tools - a combination of some cheap Asian junk, some hand me downs and vintage old rusted tools I brought with me when I moved from Europe (some made in Soviet Union!
First, I went on a big shopping spree to Sears, but I returned 80% of it (unused) and replaced with Snap On stuff off e-bay and new. Mostly sockets, screwdrivers, wrenches and ratchets. I haven't seen anything that touches Snap On in these areas (well, perhaps Facom ratchets, I bought a 1/2" drive one and like it a lot). Pliers - Knipex & Vice Grip. Rest is mix of Craftsman, SK and other brands.
Now I have a core set which will last for the rest of my life and beyond
