Tool belt Question!

I know its not quite a garage related question, but has to do with tools non the less. Recently, I finished school for building construction, and got a job as a carpenter. During school I bought a Tough Built tool belt from menards. Used it in school, and didn't put too many hard hours on it. Now that I am working full time, I am seeing the need for an upgrade. If any of you are carpenters, or have opinions on tool belts let me know! I am leaning towards occidental, but am keeping my options open.
Thanks!

Occidental is the one I'd want if I was a carpenter. I'd want suspenders on it too.

I used to work almost every Habitat project in my area. At the time, all my budget could handle was the lowes & HD stuff, and I'm kind of glad now for the experience. I have a better understanding of what works for me and what doesn't, having gone through all the options (maybe exaggerating a little bit).

What I prefer is a smaller electrician's type pouch, a smaller 'general' pouch, wide belt & suspenders setup. I'm short & fat so I have plenty of belt space but its awkward with really big pouches & pockets. I wouldn't have figured that out without a lot of options to go through, and the overall cost of finding what you really want I think is worth it.

If I could afford occidental, yep I'd have it. I'm lefty and they make stuff for me while everyone else really doesn't. I can make due taking a righty drill holster and putting at the back of my belt, but its not quite the same.

Is there something wrong with the tough built? I thought one of the marketing themes for the tough built belt system is how flexible and interchangeable it is? I like my tough belt, what I like about it is that I can detach the storage and clip it on to the clip that is attached above my desk.

Look into diamondback belts too. I would say occidental as well though. You are wearing it all day so you want something comfortable. I am left handed as well and they cater to me.

What you guys think about those belt-less rigs? You think maybe they'd be swinging around all over the place?

I had a full set of Occidental leather bags. Ended up hating them. Empty they weighed enough to wear you out. Fill them full, and just moving was a work out.

The system is a cool idea being able to interchange pouches, but I have found the pouches to be kind of lackluster. There is a lack of tool holders on the right side, which is where tools are held most often. Another problem is the clips. I broke 3 clips during school, doing relatively light work. I haven't since I got their replacement ones. Also, being a bigger guy, I have to use the belt extension for the padded belt. That piece zips on to the padded belt, and comes off every day.

You want suspenders that is a must have.

yes leather bags are heavy as hell but they are tough as nails and that is the key word here. Think about some of the sharp objects that those bags will carry and hold trust me you don't want sharp objects poking out and hitting you.

Today you can get a wide arrangement of tool holders like one for a cell phone, cordless drill, heavy duty hammer clip and so, the better tool belts will give you those options.

Someone said occidential tool belts and they are top shelf tool belts but they are not cheap.

One other thing to look out for is a belt with a back support system to stop any back pain from heavy loads 24/7.

I find you really don't want to go cheap on a belt if you are working all day long climbing up and down tends to be very hard on anyone.

I have the nylon Oxy. Super light and super comfortable. I hate suspenders and it is the only belt i have had that stays on my waist where I want it to.
