So I posted this board in another thread saying it was local to me and had no intention of buying it but we know how that goes, he was asking $75 but he took $40. It is in great shape after I spent a hour scrubbing it gently to get whatever it was that was spilled on it. Has anyone put any kind of finish on these to protect it? I don't plan on reselling it just want to protect it.

Pic which I bought it from

Well let me be the first to say you ****! I noticed your board has the long pattern wrenches which I am currently working on completing. If this board was mine I would probably not put anything on it but if you really have to I would paint it with a clear wood sealer but not a varnish. A varnish would not let the wood breathe and would eventually cause it to crack and peel. A sealer would protect it while still letting it breathe!

just rub a little good paste wax on it. Mothers or Meguiars carnuba. nothing with a cleaner or abrasive or you'll rub the graphics off.
don't go crazy- those outlines and numbers are probably just silkscreened on there.

I bet there is already a clear finish applied by the mfr. Looks that way to me anyway. Polyurethane wouldn't hurt it.
