Answered a FB marketplace ad for a Kennedy tool box and contents today.
Included was an old tapping head,a Dorman tapping head.More a conversation piece than anything else.An Angle block.
A bunch of micrometers and some depth gages and circle cutters,a crate full of pipe and regular dies and handles.A pile of hole saws, two sets of starrett pin gages,a complete starrett depth gage, a bucket of drill bits.
Not pictured are 6 fly cutters,a decent selection of mill bits and Easy outs, three boring head cutters.
The Kennedy tool box is in excellent condition.
I paid 300 hundred for the box and tooling
I think I did ok.

Nice! Plenty of value there.

The comprehensive Starrett depth mic would be the star for me, but looks like you have a load of other mics, all of good quality.

And I see a little (1/4”) chuck too. If that’s a U.S. made Jacobs that’s nice.

I’ve bought a few similar packages myself over the years.

So long as you see enough to justify the cost you can’t go wrong!

When I’ve bought mixed mic’s in the past, they always turn out to be mixed grades too, but if I double up on any I just use any duplicates for “day to day“ tasks on my bench. You can always use a “workshop grade” mic, and even if tatty there’s little to go wrong.

My only tip is to hang on to everything.

I’ve been tempted to chuck a few bits in the past, that I never thought I’d use, but it’s all come in handy for something.

I'm working on setting up each machine I have with its own tool box so I don't have to go across the shop to get what I need.I have a SB heavy 10 and a PM/Weiss 10 inch lathe along with a Unimat DB200. A Burke Millrite MVN ,a Rockwell/Delta radial arm drill press along with a few floor type drill presses. Then there is the Parks/Craftsman thickness planer and a 6 inch and 4 inch jointer and other machines for wood.
Having them all set up with their own tools will be a plus and with this recent acquisition I believe I can make it happen.
It doesn't hurt to have a dedicated tool box for each machine if I decide to sell any of them as well.
Finding old tooling and giving it new purpose is a big part of it also.

That’s a great score there
The seller is emptying his late brother's home to facilitate selling it.He doesn't have any machinist equipment knowledge and has already sold off the bridgports and other machines. He was happy to get the stuff I bought out the door.He has some other stuff and I didn't have time to take the tour.
He still has a couple tons of stock mostly plastics in the building he needs to get rid of,if I had the the need for it I would have rented a trailer.
