I have taken the drawers out of my tool box to clean and lube the slides. I have always used spray white lube. I don't like the way it dries up attracting grit and gunk They are friction type slides. What do you use any recomendations?

Any grease will likely attract grit, especially in a grit producing environment. Try a bit of dry graphite for locks (I find the "wet graphite" carriers to be mostly useless; not enough graphite is left, and most of it goes where it won't do any good...). Dry graphite can be a bit messy to setup, but should work.

Another thing you might try that I use extensively on wood to wood surfaces and tent zippers is ordinary bar soap. Reasonably dry, and should not pick up quite as much grit as a grease.

I use Rem-oil w/ teflon or Breakfree CLP gun lube. Works good for me and doesn't seem to to collect grit/ dirt like lithium spray which I have tried. YMMV.

Beeswax will leave a very slick surface and won't accumulate dirt or dust. Candle wax will flake off and not provide much lubrication. You can find beeswax in the sewing department of most stores.

Although I can't stand the smell of it, a little Kroil does great on the slides on the old Craftsman box that lives on my bench.

When I re-habed my Snap On with slides I cleaned them off and used paraffin, which is what Snap On told me to do when I called.

I tried a few different types of lubricants (spray white lithium, thick white lithium, spray graphite) before I settled on using wheel bearing grease for the friction slides on my older SO box. I found the wheel bearing grease allowed the drawers to slide the easiest, especially once there was weight in the drawer.

However, I did not try the wax...wish I did to see how it would have compared.

I cleaned and relubed my slides not too long ago. They might have been the dirtiest slides on the planet before I cleaned them.

I used Napa Sil-Glyde. I have to say it's the best slide lube I've come across. It's just the right weight, not too thick or thin. It's does not thicken up in the cold and does not seem to attract dirt. It also smells good too. I think it was about $7.00 for the tube and it did not take much to do my twenty eight ball bearing slides.

You want a product called 'slide glide' from Brian Enos, Inc.

Smooth as silk, doesn't gum up or crack off, works like you expect.

I was given about half a jar a few years back. One application and I still have most of what was in the jar when I got it.

I use the stuff on garage doors too, one application and you're done with the chore of keeping your garage door from screeching for a long time.

It's supposed to be some kind of gun lube, but I've never used it for that.

I just found something in my cabinet with spray lubes and cleaners, called "Finish Line Dry Teflon Lube".

Its is for Bicycle chains, and I'm guessing this would do great for toolbox slides. I'll be testing it on the old 54 Craftsman top box I picked up this past weekend. and will report results.
