Tool Box Drawers Clean Out Help

Hey Guys, I am in the beginning stages of a KR 1000B restoration, and am hoping that a few of you would give me a steer on cleaning the drawers. This box has old liners that have actually bonded with the drawer floors. Liner removal results in some of it stripping away but much still adhering to the floor. Purple power plus heavy putty knife action does not get the job done.
It appears that the original owner also used adhesive to keep liners from moving.

I'm thinking I need to soak the floors in something that will remove down to the metal. Any suggestions much appreciated. sam

3m adhesive remover with a plastic razor blade. That's the combo I use to remove the residue from stuck on wheel weights.

Using a heat gun wouldn't hurt either.

I'm just a rattle can guy. Best match and surface finish I have found is with Rustoleum Sunrise Red. Multiple coats while resisting the urge to slow down over the bare spots. I do use a product called Prep-All as my last step before paint.

I will look into the 3M product, thanks for that. I was hoping that soaking overnight in some kind of solvent or kerosene or whatever would be a way of getting the major bonded on liner off the floors.

If you're going to repaint them, just go at the liner with whatever gets it off best. I have used a sharpened putty knife to get the big pieces off, then you can try coarse sandpaper on a sander.

You might have luck with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner Quart 08984. I bought it originally to remove the old adhesive that was holding the trim for my G20 van and it removed it without taking the paint behind it off. Just used it again recently to remove some decals off a surplus police bicycle I bought and it didn't touch the powdercoating on that.

If you don't care about the paint, you might have luck with aircraft stripper.

Goof off and a putty knife might work. I've used it to remove labels from hermetic compressors, some really baked on too. Just get the putty knife at the edge of the liner and drip some goof off on the blade and push.

Guys I appreciate all the suggestions. Just for future reference, the aircraft stripper seems to be just the ticket. Had to move the operation outside, that stuff is toxic. Thanks again
