Hey guys I currently work in a small shop with 2 hoist bays, and 2 tires bays. I am starting my apprenticeship in about a years time and looking for a new toolbox, however size of the toolbox is limited. I currently have a 27" (skc148 westward) toolbox and wanting to upgrade to a new roller box and top chest. If the box was to be wider the max would be 36" wide however the height of the box is not a important factor. This box will probably be used for the next 4 years and will eventually have to hold all my tools. So, what would you guys suggest?!?! :p

used mac, matco 900 series
CM pro (industrial) series

thats all that comes to mind right now.

being limited to 36", i'd be looking for used truck brand boxes

I agree, 32" to 36" was a popular size for many years and used truck boxes are very common on ebay and craiglist. The menard boxs look pretty decent and for $350 for the bottom is a deal, I would buy one over a hf 40" any day. The menards box is 18" deep and truck boxes will range from 18" to 21" with a few 24" deep. If you find something, posted the add and get our opinion.

OK, you can't go wider than 36", but how deep & high can you go? I mean, if the depth (front to rear outside dimension) is 25 to 30", will the drawers hit the front of the car you're working on? Basically, if you can't go realk wide, as you say, you can go higher & deeper.

Lista makes toolboxes 34.25" wide, 53.5" high, with either a 28.5" or a 22.5" depth. Plus a gazillion other configurations.

Many have never heard of Lista, but they are built like tanks & the price is right. Smoothest drawer action I've ever seen & I have Snap On KRL, too.
