I picked up this 3 drawer toolbox from a friend of mine. He's a scrounger, and finds all kinds of tools and equipment, and he was not sure who made it.

It's fairly well made, with easily configurable drawer slides and definitely modular. Dimensions are roughly 24 wide, 24 deep (same as my Lista cabinet) and just about 16" tall. This is a pic of it after I did a quick repaint with Rustoleum and VHT Chevy Orange for the drawer faces.

Before painting pic, drawer faces are removable, and the drawers are draw stamped, not folded like pretty much every other toolbox I've seen.

The inside has some tabs and brackets that may have been part of a locking mechanism, and the oval lock hole on top actually reminds me of the push locks that filing cabinets have.

Absolutely no markings or signs of a build tag every riveted to it.

Any ideas?

Looks like an industrial drawer unit, probably from an under bench mount. The dimensions and construction style are that of a typical industrial drawer unit. Based on the drawer design I wonder if they also produced cooking pans. Back in the day industrial metal companies produced a wide range of products that would fit on their presses.

Thanks everybody. I have been looking at vintage office furniture as well, but no dice so far.

It has some holes punched in the top, so I was thinking under-bench or under desk mount as well.

The square holes for the drawer glides look like my Lista too.

I picked up a 480mm "Euro" drawer pull from Lowes to see if it would fit. The spacing was about 1/2" too wide so I put a bend in the middle of the pull to make the legs come together a bit..worked like a charm especially since the holes go into the radius of the drawer pans.

Oh and Lista pics. I just finished am engine build and am spending the cold months going through stuff and purging. My FIL also gave me some little bench top saws and sanders a bucket of bolts and a bucket of files and hacksaw blades, so my shops a mess right now organizing this stuff. Two more motors coming in tonight too, 1 trans going out.

Lista pic,

Thanks for the feedback on the redo. Amazing what a foam roller and a can of Rustoleum can do. I spent a little while bending up two more handles to fit and I fuddled with the rollers and glides to make it require a little more force to crack the drawers open.. I think I will skip the cabinet latches for now. I have $90 into the whole thing $45 just in the drawer pulls and hardware, but I just felt like messing with the aesthetics.
Next up, 200# ball bearing slides for the mondo drawers in the workbench. More on that later.

Final pic.
