I picked this box up and I'm having a hard time finding any info on it. My pops thinks it's a snap on and claims he had one just like it back in the day. It has a really simple hasp type lock on it and seems pretty well made. Seems to have originally been some sort of olive green. If anyone recognizes it I would appreciate some feed back. cbd72a6102c07e96f7ddf2660d944d4c.jpg3c795b3f1840c71653b962fab04d326b.jpg65be7f4b2a8c0df5bba703261d9d72da.jpgb8eaaea29bf0cccb39acf244d86fb05a.jpg

It looks to have all the hallmarks of a Snap On. The handles, lid, drawer layout all say Snap On. However, I'm wondering if that hasp is original. If so, I would guess maybe that box was for military production.

Where are the drawers?

The drawers are at home. I'm going to media blast them tomorrow. I will get some pictures then. ba51c53381421b940cc5e103a65d0fcf.jpg
The hasp looks factory installed for sure.

Pretty sure the hasp was an add on unless it's really, really old. With what I see, it could be a snap on. More likely I think it's an MBC who in the early days made snap on boxes so their own labeled boxes are very similar.

Here's where the box is at now. I sandblasted it and painted it with some OD green krylon. The colour looks a little lighter then the original but doesn't look too bad. Just need to find a handle for the cover and maybe an emblem of some sort.

Call Snap On customer service and they'll set you up with a handle. They're about five dollars. The box looks good!

Have you found a manufacturing stamp on the back?

I can't find anything stamped on it. I figured maybe it was hidden under the paint but no luck. There are no markings other then some part numbers on the sliders.

Ever seen one with a lock set up like that before. Also is it odd that there are no holes for an emblem?

It's more odd that there's no lock hole at all, bit it's definitely a snap on box based on that layout.
