I said elsewhere that I lined my toolbox in carpet runner. if ya didn't see it maybe this will help ya w/ yer box. sorry I aint got a pic of the box/drawers w/ it handy. but it worked great. the black spongey stuff that you usually use to line the drawers often slides around or tears after years of use. this stuff holds its shape and protects the drawer bottom and the tools just the same. it can be bought at yer local hardware store for 2 to 3 bucks a foot.

That's what I've been using since the '70s. It does start to fall apart after 20-30 years, but it's better than most drawer liner. I just got some on sale for $1.50/foot, I'm going to redo my boxes this weekend.

Stall mat like you can get at Tractor Supply or other farm stores works great, I don't know what it costs new but I found 4'x15' piece of it on the side of the highway so that's what I used. At about 1/4" thick it weighs about as much as the drawer its in lol

Yeah I used some of the nice sticky stuff I got for dirt cheap off of Amazon myself. Toolbox manufacturers really gouge you if you buy this stuff from them.

I've used stall mats on top of boxes to protect them, but not in drawers. Seems like overkill, but maybe if I had found some on the side of the highway....:lol_hitti

I like that stuff for a top mat, the Ribbed style.

I use "Toolfoam" in my drawers, the stuff from toolfoam.com
if you peruse their "specials" they have some on clearance that is not bad but they do have a minimum.

But they have a glue on the stuff so it can be laminated so you can shadow your tools easier.
I just lay it in the drawers.

In the past I used the Craftsman top mat for a drawer liner in a drawer with particularly heavy tools.
