Ok ! This is making me crazy ! I know I read a whole post on who makes what tool box on this forum. There was info on the name of the plant in Canada that makes Mac and Husky boxes. Im looking for a 6 drawer side box for my Husky set. I have one but I want to put one on the other side also. Well...its been discontinued by Husky. From what I remember that plant is producing the boxes that look the same but they are being sold under another brand. Im sure it was on this site but I cant find that post anywhere ! Can anyone out there help me ?? Thanks

Thanks alot for the reply. Do you know if they have their own website ? Im not really sure if those are made in the same place as the Mac and Husky boxes. This is driving me nuts. I know I read the post about box manufacturers on this site. I just cant find it. From what I remember the post listed most of the big brands and even had where some them were located. The seven drawer Beach side box looks close but you cant enlarge the picture to show more detail. Now that I think about it, I think the post might have even listed a website for them. After reading so many posts they all get a little confusing after awhile ! Anyone else have any info ?? Thanks

Hi Mac now owns Beach Canada and no Beach does not have a website but you could try the Acklands-Grainger.ca to view the Beach boxes and I think Grey-Canada boxes are also Beach boxes.

Stanley owns Beach (Mac too)
You can buy the Beach boxes in Canada from Acklands. In the US you might try Grainger and their line of Proto boxes. The less expensive Proto boxes are made by Beach in Canada

There are a few Tool Box mfg's in Canada.

International - Drummondville Quebec
Snap-on - Newmarket Ontario
Stanley - Smiths Falls Ontario

The above mfg's do not make all of their boxes in those plants, just a couple of models each.

I spent about an hour on the phone today trying to get info on Beach tool boxes. I called Ackland Grainger first. Their website lists a side box but you cant enlarge the picture to see the details. Plus they dont ship to the US. The guy gave me the number for Stanley Canada. I called them but the woman in customer service didnt really know anything about the line of tool boxes. She was nice enough to provide me with the phone number for the Smith Falls factory where they are produced. The woman there was very helpful ! She told me that the style side box that I have from Husky was discontinued in the beginning of last year (bad for me). There was a similar box that was made by Mac with ball bearing drawers that looked just like my Husky box but that was discontinued around the same time (also bad for me). The Beach side box is the same size but has 7 ball bearing drawers instead of the 6 regular slide drawers that the Husky box has. This sounds like it might be the way to go. The woman told me that Mac, Beach, the older Husky (a year ago) and Proto are all the same color red. Is there anyone out there that can clarify that for me ? I might just buy two matching side boxes from Beach. This way they both look the same and I gain more drawers. I got the name of a dealer, Windsor Factory Supply thats willing to ship to NY because they have a warehouse in Detroit. The other thing that I thought of is get a price from the Mac tool truck for a side box. It might be the same price as the Beach boxes after shipping. Do any of you guys in Canada have Beach tool boxes ?? Are they well built ? This would be so much easier if I wasnt so picky about the way my boxes looked !

Windsor Factory Supply is an awesome outfit. I wouldn't have any qualms about dealing with them.

They have a location in Mississauga, which is about a 1 hour drive from Buffalo if you wanted to pick-up.

I have a 3 year old Beach box that looks like this Proto Unit:

http://www.stanleyproto.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=440%5FCABINETS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=J442735-7RD&strSiteName=PROTO&strDefaultCatalog=PROTO&SDesc=27%26quot%3BW+x18%26quot%3BD+x+35%26quot%3BH+Red+7%2DDrawer+Roller+Cabinet

The quality is good. I'm a weekend warrior tool user and I don't think I'll ever wear out this box.

Theo if I was close to Buffalo I would take the trip but I live down on Long Island. I just want to make sure the Beach box is close to the Husky in looks and color. Any other thing I would have givin up on by now but I just got this box two years ago and Im sorta bent that I cant get the matching sides for it already. Maybe Im crazy. But I am a picky *** and I want to try my best to get the closest thing possible to what I have. I might give the factory in Smith Falls a call tomorrow and see if someone would be willing to email a picture of the Beach side box to me just so I can get a better look at the details. If its real close I think I'll buy two so they match and sell the Husky side. Do you have any idea if the Beach and Husky boxes are close in color ? How about the trim on the drawers ? Any info is greatly appreciated !

This saga continues. I spoke to a very helpful guy from Stanley Canada by the name of Wayne Pelley. He is the industrial marketing manager for Stanley. He was kind enough to send me a large picture of the Beach side box that I was looking at. He also found out that Beach and Husky boxes are the exact same color red. So it seems that the boxes are the same only Beach has one more drawer. This has made my day !!! Now that I know this I might spring for the ten drawer boxes and I'll have more room for the future. Its just a matter of the shipping costs at this point. I love it when a plan comes together !

Grey-Canada boxes are also Beach boxes.

From what I was told Gray Tools has produced their own boxes since 1994. This is according to the local Gray representative and the manufacturer, which I called prior to purchasing. Beach was once a supplier of boxes to Gray. The Gray regional representative for our area actually came to my garage and ordered my box himself. He explained they had problems with outside suppliers, so decided to manufacture in house.
