Just got my third personal box, excluding carry boxes, and I just finished repairing it (once it's cleaned up I'll be posting it and it's story along with trying to find the one part it's missing).

Now it needs mats in the drawers and some stickers removed before it gets loaded up with all the stuff that's currently being housed in my desk and overcrowding the other two boxes.

I've always used the foam mats from O'Reilly's, Tractor Supply, or Tops but I'm curious what everybody prefers/would recommend. I had one person recommend rubber mats, the kind you put on the floor for anti-slip/easy cleaning, so far.

Might want to consider black vinyl ribbed carpet runner. Comes in 3' - 4' widths & sold by the foot at home improvement stores like Lowes in the carpet dept. It's economical, especially when comparing prices to actual drawer liner products to line all the drawers in large boxes, and it's tuff stuff that's easy to cut-to-fit and lays flat and doesn't slide around in a drawer.

I have used this stuff recently with good results. 3mm yoga mat from Walmart, $8 or $9 a roll.

I don't have a Lowe's near me so I checked a few other stores for it today. Only one that had it was $17 a foot in 56" sections at 36" width. Lowe's for comparison is $2.98 a foot. Double checked and it's the same stuff. Precutting it must be an expensive process. Also rolls of the $5-8 mats were $20 there. Going to be checking some other stores tomorrow unless I got the $320 route.

I use the vinyl ribbed carpet runner in my boxes and would recommend them.

3mm yoga mats. I've used them for 10+ years and they hold up beautifully. I bought a giant roll online for all of my boxes.

Checked the rest of the local chain stores and locally owned places and no utility runner or even foam mats. They don't stock either anymore, only the checkerboard foam stuff that you see in some older kitchens for pots and pans.

Went to Amazon and bought 27 inches by 25 feet of utility runner at $3.40 a foot. Was hoping to go local but they're making it hard when they stop stocking everything or double the price compared to everywhere else.

Got the mats cut and installed. Had some issues getting them perfect but a pair of end cutters and a pair of scissors worked pretty well for fitting after rough cutting them. Went with large rib because I thought it might stand out more and be useful with anything that doesn't sit perfectly flat like ratchets or a loose socket. Also cut the misc drawers long ways on accident but it doesn't hurt anything, don't know what I'm putting in them yet but it won't be anything that would need the ribs to keep in place.

Guess it's a little late but for anyone else that's looking I've slowly been replacing the crappy kitchen drawer liners that came in my big box with this stuff from amazon.

It's not as nice as the SnapOn drawer liner but nothing really is. This stuff is great for me because not only does it hold my tools in place without being bulky but it's also as wide as my drawers are deep so all I have to do is cut them to length and drop them in. It describes it as "thick cabinet liners" but they're only maybe a touch more than a sixteenth thick, not so think they eat up significant space in your drawers. I also bought one of the dinky rolls of drawer liner from HF and while it wasn't bad it wasn't as wide as my drawers were deep so it required more cutting and I don't think it's quite as nice as the B&C but it's not too far off.

also don't discount simple woven drawer liner rolls at Walmart or Dollar Store.
the lining is thin and fits easily; I have it in several rollaways and it works well.

Is that B&C toolbox liner actually 18 inches wide? I bought some similar stuff and it was advertised as 18" but actually was just shy of 17.5.

While it is possible that something has changed since I bought it I just went out and measured the roll I have. It's about as dead on 18" as I can measure. It falls within the line for 18" on my Milwaukee tape so if it's off, it's not off by much.

I went back and measured. My drawers were 18 X 32 7/8. At least I thought they all were. 4 of the 12 drawers I wanted lined were 20 X 32 7/8. So I went to Walmart and bought 7 3mm yoga pads. 6 is all I needed but I figured I'd mess at least 1 of them up. Nope, they all came out great so I have a mat to take back.

Thanks for all of the help. Now, on to deciding what I need for organization of the tools they will hold. My daughter wants my rolling toolbox and with this move, I wanted drawers under the workbench to house the tools anyway.

Also I am going to put clear Danish Oil on the butcher block. Just need the time to do it.

My favorite is rough top conveyor belting. Sometimes called "incline belting". It's designed to hold stuff while the belt goes up or downhill. It's soft, flexible, and has grip for days when you shut the drawers.

I don't buy it new, I get remnants from a customer who makes conveyor accessories. You can purchase it online, however.

I have yet to find a more perfect drawer liner for toolbox drawers.
