I'd like to repaint an old tool box, older snap-on smaller box. Looking into suggestions on what I should use. Any tips on this process greatly appreciated

a paint finish depends on prep work. sanding with successively finer grits is key to roughing up the surface. all rust and chipping paint must be removed and sanded smooth. any bare metal should be primed. multiple top coats of a high-gloss enamel is what should fit the bill for top coating. pick a reputable brand and carefully read the instructions on the back. work in a heated space so the paint cures properly. definitely read the back of the can of your desired finish and follow the instructions to a "t".

Thanks Jallyn, I think I saw on one of the side plates of a snapon box here that ppg was the paint used (well on that particular box). This box has some rust that needs removal and glide clean up for sure. As I have an unheated work space, it will be summer before I can get at it. Gives me time to do a bit of research prior to screwing it up!

Yes ppg is the paint used and there should also be a color number there on the sticker, If yours don't have it pm me and I will pull one of mine out to get you the number. Rich
