Excellent job gipp!

I haven't forgotten about this thread or my unfinished project - it's just that this summer's project list took a strange and very time consuming turn. Not entirely bad, but time consuming none the less.

Fall is on it's way and time will once again become available.:)

Well it's been quite some time since a post was made here. I've recently stared on another project. It is a late 40's vintage top chest. So far I've been stripping the red paint and trying to figure out how I will paint it.
Originally it was Grey Wrinkle finish. I've read some about how to achieve this finish in the proper color. Haven't found Grey wrinkle paint in a spray can.
But for now I am curious about the green color I found underneath the paint. In particular underneath the draw pulls of all places. These don't appear to have been replaced at any time. Still have the hollow tube rivets. Elsewhere on the box where I found this color was on the lid and sides. Perhaps it was used as a filler but also maybe the primer and what helped to achieve the wrinkle finish.
Anyone ever find this on their tool chest?
Also looking for a wire for the hinge. Someone used a welding filler rod which is too small in dia. I'm guessing somewhere I should find Piano wire of the proper diameter.
