I was going to add another tool box to my new garage, either the 44 inch 13 drawer roller base or the 16 drawer 26 roller when one of my customers offered
me her husbands Kennedy box. He had passed away about a year ago after a
long illness. She decided to clear it out, was going to put it out at a tag sale.
I picked up the base cabinet, 2 drawer middle and top cabinet for $400.
Part of the deal was I had to take the contents with it. He was a machinist
and the box contains among other items a snap on tap and die set, several
different dial indicators, a bore gage set, several sleeves of new drill bits, and
much more I could not identify. I am going to have a machinist buddy come over and see if he can identify some of the stuff. There must be several hundred in tooling etc in the drawers.
I am a carpenter, not a machinist. I probably will never use much of the stuff
but expect to find a good home for some of it and to learn to use some other.
Time to get that old metal lathe out of my brothers garage!
Of course this still means my other box is overflowing, so I still need another
box. Just have to figure where to put it.

The snap on tap and die set is probably worth what you paid for the toolbox. Congrats on the score!

the snap on tool/die set is not that large so maybe not that valuble, but it covers the sizes I will use. I know one of the cases with the bore gauge set still had a receipt in it from when he bought it and it alone was almost $300, and there is a dial indicator with a 12 inch range vertical that has to be several hundred by itself.
