Hello, this is my second post and am trying to see some opinions. Ive been in my trade now for a little over 6 years and since i started I have been getting tools here and there off the trucks and when I have been able to find them used. That being said, I have been losing space in my tool box, a 26” SO KRA, so i have added here and there, a top chest and two side cabinets, but I am realizing the space still is coming short. Is it better to get another triple stack 26” or just get a larger box. Thank you for your time

Get something larger but perhaps keep the 26" along with it if like using it .
I like 50 to 60" boxes as big but still fairly easy move/transport plus rather than upgrade bigger I just add another 50 to 60" box .
You find more good used deals on 2 bay or smaller boxes .
What best really down to your personal preferences and space scenario ...

For multitude of reasons I prefer to add boxes rather than replace.

b-t-w; I'm currently on the lookout for another roll around. It will be the 3rd large roll around, along with miscellaneous other boxes.

I also use file cabinets for skill saws, drills, and other "large" tools, thus keeping the tool boxes reserved for hand tools.

I was in the same situation years ago. I started with a 26" top and bottom, added a side box, 2, 3 drawer mid boxes. it was getting unstable to move around.
my SO guy at the time had several sets of friction slide kr550/555 he wanted to unload. I traded what I had, (kept the side box for future expansion).

over the next few years I added the matching side box, 3 more side boxes, a 26" SO roller cab, and an additional KR 650 roller cab. almost everything was bought used off one of the tool trucks.

I sold off the extra 36" roller cab, and the matching side box when I went back out into a service truck. all the work boxes made their way back to my garage, along with an additional SO top box and roller cab. I have the 26" roller cab in my basement workshop for woodworking supplies.
my vote is to add onto what you have, multiple smaller boxes are easier to reconfigure to the available space you have.

Unless you have a reason to think you’re going to stop buying tools, keep the old one. You’ll be surprised how much room you can expand into with the same number of tools. It’s just that things will be neater and better organized.

Thank you for the help, I definitely am thinking of keeping my current setup. I am considering the KRA5318 53” triple bank. Although I have the opportunity to pickup this

Don't go into debt over a KRA box.....They are not worth the price.

Used KR-1000 roll cabs run about $600-$1000 & are 10x better than a new KRA roll cab.
