Plan on re organizing my socket drawer at work. I have a snap on master series box and one long drawer that I keep my sockets in. I have priced the “Tool Grid” organization deal from Matco. $190!! I really like it for the clean look but I’m cheap and feel like I can save money. I already have a lot of the socket holders I’m using and want to just be able to screw them down.
I am wanting be able to screw my socket holders to a piece of plywood to keep them up right and organized. I don’t know if a black painted piece of plywood would look good or if I should purchase a black laminated countertop and use that as a base. This is what I’m need help with, what’s does everything think will be a good base of the drawer? Wood with black paint? Cheap black laminate countertop? Bedliner on plywood?

That’s what I currently use but replacing everything with plastic socket tray holders and composite socket holders that are similar to the metal ones.

ply covered with thin rubber mat or ally sheet and rivet them on
super easy do and the lines on the rubber mat can make layout positioning far easier .

I rivited my metal rails down to a piece of thicker sheet metal but the Matco ones I used to use were much nicer, easy to take sockets of, held all my extensions and ratchets.
