I am looking to spice up my box a bit and I was wondering what others have done to theirs to personalize it. I am leaning more towards magnets because I don't really want it to be permanent. So lets see what you all have done with your boxes.

Also links to places (or ebay users) that sell the best stickers / magnets.

My favorite sticker is also my avatar. I thoroughly stickered up my first toolbox and later regretted it. Stickers are kind of like tattoos. Its alot harder to take them off than put them on!!

LOL.

I look at stickers on toolboxes the same way that Singapore looks at chewing gum...totally banning them.

I spent the good part of a week de-stickering a Ultra Yellow Snap-On cart I have and bought used, and the only two stickers/magnets I currently have on any box are the contact cards/info for my Mac and Snap-On dealers.

Stickers tell a lot about the box owner, but the also tell "A LOT about the box owner" if you dig deeper.
:)

I did fail to mention that one of my shop bottom boxes is stainless, so that made any magnet type decisions quite easy. Hahahahaha.Just like the house fridge.

the big box craft stores here sell plain white sheet magnets for cheap, diff sizes but the one pack i have is 8.5 x 11 sheet. the material looks like the same stuff the busnesses give out with there info on them to stick on the fridge (pizza shops, etc.) thin and flexable. put your stickers on that and cut it out with reg scissors, then you can use your stickers and move them without damage when u want.

Yeah thats why I want magnets. I will only put them on the underside of the lid so only I will see them when it is open.

That's what I've always did when I was younger, and even picked up blank business card magnets from Staples, to attach stickers too, in order to make them magnets/removable.

Now days though, I pretty much just keep a few pictures, in magnetic picture sleeves, on the inside lid.

I've fought with myself over this issue -- I have lots of plain red "real estate" on my current setup....and now that the box gets moved around and will sit in the middle of the shop for everyone to see (big blank backside), the sticker issue is good and bad -- I'm tempted to put all the company related logos all over it. I have old mfr's decals that ar no-longer used that will show I've been in this game a while. I can also cover up any sctratches that happen (and it WILL happen in a working shop). But, on the other hand, I don't want to have to remove them later and who the heck will want a used box with logos of stuff thay never heard of on it (specialized equipment)?

I don't have a problem with stickers, but I'm not working in a professional environment. To me they tell a story about the type of work the box has seen over the years - as well as the type of person the box owner is and their interests. My kids have also put a few on my box using magnetic sheet.

Here's and old picture of my 41" Craftsman. I have stickers on it as well as some things that were printed on magnetic sheet. I also glued a Marilyn Monroe post card to some magnetic sheet and threw it on (not in the pic).

When I read that I thought I agree, but for a different reason. They are like tattoos, they make a statement of where the box has been and what the owner is into, very much like tattoos can. I love 'em. I try and keep most under the lid but I definately have some "that show" too.. Yep, just like my tattoos.....

no stickers yet... I was actually just looking on the snap-on website for a big decal for the inner lid, just like most shop carts have. I dont really think magnets are that great because anyone can make it disappear if they like it enough...

I seem to have a memento of almost every car I've owned, usually a logo or model emblem. I'm tempted to glue some of those rare earth magnets to the backs and use them as decor.

I would also like to know where to get one of these. Specifically this one since this is the box I have (KRSC46)

. . . other side is covered with those free car magnets Rockauto sends you every time you order something. . .

Those all get grabbed by my 4 year old son. He's starting a car magnet collection.

I have a set of cabinets with wooden drawers for my parts/supplies, and for those I screwed a metal frame on each drawer which you slide a label into.
For the tools in my metal cabinets, I've been thinking about making magnetic labels for some time now. The zcalz look really neat, but are out of my budget, although I think if I ever get around to it, I may use pictures instead of name labels now.

I've got a few SnapOn stickers that are similar in nature to FergusonTO35's avatar, but they're "pinned" to the inside of the box lid with magnets. Applying them to a magnetic sheet would be a good idea.

That is an awesome stool, very creative and unique. I have to build me one.[/QUOTE]

I showed that to SWMBO, and she laughed and said "I wonder how he got those crutches. I wonder how he got those bike wheels; One thing lead to another..." :D

I like stickers. But not dumb ones, I put ones from places that we go to for work, vacation, breweries, etc. Meaningful stuff that I like.

I don't mind a few stickers on a tool box, but when I see them covered (tatted out) with them, it almost detracts from it's looks. Moderation is the key.

As far as the original question, I wish I knew of places other than on-line.

I like the stickers, plain is boring and someday I hope to find a old box covered with interesting stickers from the past to go next to my current box covered with stickers. I sure don't want them on my car though.

I had already removed quite a few stickers from these boxes before this photo was taken. eBay has any decal you could possible want. You can also contact any manufacturer of racing stuff or tools and request a decal. It's worth doing. My favorite is the big Hotwheels decal on the bottom drawer. I wrote to Mattel toys for that one. When you get tired of them a little heat/WD40 and elbow grease will get them right off. Click on the photo to enlarge:

I used to think the magnets that said what was in the drawer were cool. Then I realized, I use all my tools often enough I don't need a magnet to tell me whats in there. I put stickers on my "Motorcycle" Track/Trail tool box. Usually from gear manufactures. Right now I have a Scott, MSR, Hot Cams and an old Bell helmets sticker on the underside of the lid. I throw the Fox stickers away though even though I like their gear.

Like I said - lotsa real estate to sticker up on this box -- the biggest thing for me it the huge bare backside which is seen when it getts moved around the shop for different jobs. Right now it just looks likt a giant red "wall" in the middle of the shop.
