I have looked everywhere and can not afford to do lista, vidmar etc. I need a lot of drawers and looking for a basic 5-6 drawer box I can do in multiples and use for a base. Any leads? My next plan is to build my own wood versions.

Thank you,

Tyler

Check out the HF boxes. Depending on how big you need the 13 drawer might work, I' know some have converted them to cabinet bases.

If those are too big, perhaps the side boxes for those would work. Available in drawer and cabinet versions.

Yeah, the HF "US General" boxes are pretty good. Not as good as Snap-On or Lista, but better than Craftsman. I made a base for a bench out of mine.

What size drawers and how many do you want?
I am in the same situation, looking to replace some drawers under the workbench with full extension deeper drawers.
I do want at least 24" deep inside drawers, about qty 18 5" tall, some 13" tall and some 3" tall. The box to hold the drawers would be about 32" tall, 30" deep and 8' long. I figured about 7-8 sheets prefinished plywood, $85 a sheet, and about 26 full extension slides, about $20 a pair. About $1200 in material and alot of labor to make.
BUT, I will have the size drawers I want when I am done.

Here's a couple links to check out to buy some:

Poke around the site, they also have alot of choices for cabinets.

No luck in finding used Lista around here at a good price. One used in rough shape Lista 4-5 drawer cabinet is around $500. Still looking...

Thanks for the input. I plan to stop by HF tomorrow and look at there side box; looks close to wat I am after for one area.

If that does not work my plan was to use cabinet grade playwood and laminate red. Cost is not bad. Handles for them on the other hand?

Thanks,

Ty

$85 for a sheet of plywood?

3/4" Cabinet grade Birch, pre-finished both sides. $80 + tax

The finish is very nice and strong. It is worth the extra cost to me not to have to deal with finishing all the wood.

This is from the lumber yard, none of that HD ****.

Yup, I paid about $13 for a 4x4 sheet of 1/2" sanded plywood. Not cabinet grade. Not surprised at your cost.
