Nice! My first setup sounds similar to yours, a hand carry box along with a few other totes and such for storage. Enjoy your new setup!

Maybe make it a speciality box? Plumbing, household , auto repair.

This is always good. Another thing I did was set it aside for parts for the chainsaw, snowblower, garden hose, you get the picture. I also keep small yard tools in it, pruning shears, a couple whetstones, and the like

I repurposed my tool bag for carrying specific tools for specific projects. I end up loading it up when taking tools to a project that can't come to the tools. Works out well.

I've got smaller toolboxes in my garage as well. One for specialized electrical tools, one for plumbing, and one for automotive electrical & stereo wiring. Not that they get used very often, but when needed, they are ready. I just turned my woodworking tools toolbox into a 9 drawers rolling cart. I originally started with a Craftsman rolling cart in our apartment 15 years ago. Still have it, and it is just for my automotive tools.
Look at some of the big box stores for closeouts on toolboxes. If you're not OCD into everything matching, sometimes you can get them at closeout prices, making room for the next years model. Just got my 9 drawer cart at HD for $100 off regular price.

I would do like mentioned also, either a specialized tool box or portable box. I have a three drawer box that has all my chain saw stuff in it

i have several smaller hand boxes & bags to load up tools for various things.

"emergency" roadside repairs
going to a friends place to help with a project
even just doing renovations around the house.
when i'm headed out to go wheeling, i pack 2 separate bags/boxes. a bag with some basics to keep in the truck, and a vintage CM top box with a larger selection of tools.

mechanics type tools are split between my service truck, and garage, metal fab stuff is also in the garage.

i have a few hand tools, and all my woodworking type stuff in the basement.

i seldom have to go to the garage for anything i need in the house.
