Hey guys. I'm new to this forum but not to tools. Over the last 20 years I've formed a small collection of tools consisting of craftsman, husky(the older built in USA stuff), channellock, visegrip, and cresent. My basic concept is if you can bust you knuckles on it then then it better be good quality. Recently, I have needed the use of a set of 3/4" drive sockets but don't want to drop serious money for a set. Even the craftsman set is expensive by my means. I was in autozone and their durlast tools seems to be as well made as craftsman. They sell a 3/4" drive rachet and the sockets separately so I figured I could buy j
the rachet and fill in the sockets as needed. I don't want to add junk to my moderate quality collection. Should I start this duralast collection or just dent my wallet with craftsman?

I picked up my 3/4 drive set for $75 at the local pawn shop . They had two of them for sale . Since I bought mine I have seen similar deals at other pawn shops .

Being a mechanic for over 50 years & an aircraft A&P mechanic for those years a collection of tools that you personally pick of many differant brands gives you the opertunity to have a good feeling when using any of them.

Maybe ill look into the pawnshops in my area. If I can't find what I'm looking for then I think ill just buy duralast and fill in my set as needed. Their warranty is better than craftsman because they ask no questions. Prompt replacement every time like craftsman was 20 years ago.

Have you checked SK? They make some decent quality tools at a reasonable price. I have some of the older SK/ Sparta stuff that has held up very well over the years. JMHO.
