Is it a hex drive ? That would help narrow it down.
try Alloy Arifacts, it looks like an Indestro-ish socket.

Wards PowerCraft.....I have a set of those that were old when my Uncle gave them to me back around 1960... It came with an open ratchet with a female drive. You flipped the ratchet over to reverse directions.. The extension for the set had two male ends; with one end fitting into the ratchet, and the socket on the other end.

Still have the green hip toolbox with tray that the set came in. The set included x/32 sockets, as well as eight points..

Your description is so much like what I have. Except I'm missing the ratchet. But i do have the double male extensions you describe.
