Thanks for sharing!

Not sure I agree with what is clearly a marketing change, but they must have their reasons. The general public hasn’t heard of Metabo so we’ll see. It’s also going to devalue the industrial brand, though not much. The HPT or whatever isn’t much distinction and I figure that’s on purpose.

Will be a shame to see the Hitachi name effectively disappear, they made good tools, maybe not quite as good as Makita and they certainly had to much cheap homeowner grade stuff in recent years, but a sgame nonetheless.

I think it's a good move on their part.

Up until about 2 years ago I thought Hitachi only sold cheap drills at Lowes. I've since heard information otherwise, especially on the nailers. I did however know Metabo as a pro quality brand in general. I would have absolutely passed by the Hitachi name for Metabo name. I think that's what they are counting on. I think it will help their name and keep the tools in production.

You might be right about the "general public" but Metabo is well known, and highly regarded, among tool users IME. Also commonly known to be "expensive" which might hurt the rebrands some because folks aren't gonna look at brands they assume are out of their price range.

Another case of corporate simplification by making things more confusing.
The companies aren't merging but they'll share the same name, with a distinction.
Clear as an electronic bell with a shoddy speaker.

[snip]Now, this shouldn’t be confused with the idea that Metabo and Hitachi are merging; they are not. According to Hitachi Power Tools, the two brands will remain separate. Adding “HPT” to the Metabo name is meant to distinguish the two brands and to make it easier for consumers to easily differentiate the brands.[/snip]

So changing two separate company names - Metabo and Hitachi Power Tool, to - Metabo and Metabo HTP is supposed to "make it easier for consumers to easily differentiat". lol:thumbup::lol:
