I have a bit of self control. Generally it doesn't matter to me how much something is discounted, it isn't a good deal if I don't need it. The exception being if you wave something shiny in front of me that says Snap On for a good price, whether I need it or not usually isn't a consideration.

Only a few times has a deal-too-good-to-pass-up caused me to buy something, but in all of those cases I did not buy something I was not going to use.

I think it's the retailers who knows more about this thus they always beat us with their "self-uncontrollable" sales. It's like them happily seeing everyone stampede on their items every time they hit "make-them-crazy-on-sale" panic button.
