Has anyone raised up their tool cabinets so that they are higher off the ground? I have the HF 44" (largely thanks to you guys) but I think it would be more efficient if it was up maybe another foot or so. I don't need the top to be counter height, but I would like to use if for storage.

Has anyone lifted their toolboxes? Or is this a dumb question?

Maybe try some 8-10" casters. Would make for a smoother ride and some dubs on the box are always a good idea.

Sounds cool, looks cool. Better then a box frame and tiny wheels right?

No, but I've thought about doing it on one of my Stor-Loc boxes. It's a perfect work height for someone about 5'8-5'10 tall, but I'm 6'3. I want just another inch or 2. For me, casters aren't really an option (4 swivel casters and 2 fixed on a box that I'm guessing weighs over 3500lbs). Stupid expensive in my case, but not necessarily too bad for you. I've been thinking about taking some rectangular tubing and using it to make spacers for the casters. I think that's my best option, but casters may be easier for you.

If my tool box is going to be a stand alone roll away with a work top, I want over 40" tall. I'm 5'7" on a crappy tape measure and love my krl1022 at 45". For a top and bottom combo, the bottom doesn't have to be so tall so I can still see in the top.

The front of my garage has a 2' deep x 10' wide bump out that is raised up 15" (2 cinderblocks). I took the casters off my hf box and placed it up on the bump out. I built it into my work bench. I put a 4' work surface above the box and have a lower, 6' long bench next to it.

The bottom drawers are much easier to access now. The work surface is approx. 50" high and is nice for detail work.
