Tool Cart Decision

On the prowl for a tool cart. Getting tired of bending over and picking up tools. I have a 40 x 60 shed and footsteps can/do add up. Been looking at everything from a Matco SP8230 to the 99 special at China Freight and of course a Snappy KRSC315. Kinda concerned about how banged up it will get over time making me want to stay away from top of the line. At same time I don't want something with **** wheels that makes it cantankerous to steer. Any suggestions would be welcome. Leaky

I own a Snap On Krsc246 and I absolutely love it. For me it's the perfect size and I know it'll last me forever. I couldn't find the Krsc315 you've mentioned. I used to work at HF and I wouldn't buy their roll carts.

I'm a fan of the Cornwell 4 draw carts. They can be found on Craigslist occasionally for $200-300

Depends on what type of cart you're looking for - Lots of good reports about the HF 4 and 5 drawer units if you want drawers for tools to live there. More drawers maybe look at Napa. there was a thread here last summer about some Napa full drawer carts. My local napa located several in the area when given the part numbers - around $400 IRRC.

If you're looking for the traditional shop cart I can endorse the HF 2 and 3 shelf metal narrow ones. That's what I use in my shed and wheel across the lawn full of tools for outside work. Pretty stable tho it does need some help on grass. Been using it for several years - always loaded with tools and parts.
I have a 2 shelf one in my shop at work and use it all the time on projects away from the bench/toolbox. Grab the tools I need and away I go. Saves a boat load of time especially when finished a job and cleaning up.
I went narrow on both for space considerations - storage space in my shed (and many tools live on this cart) and storage in my shop at work. Can't say the wide ones are as good - just don't know.
If you want something like that but more... not HF, shall we say? Check out CL. I see shop carts there of various sizes and construction reasonable fairly often.

I don't own a tool cart myself, but I do own the HF 44" box and I really like it.. I think you might like to cruise through the thread on people that did mods to their HF tools carts.. It's pretty amazing what some of these guy come up with, and I never knew how many different accessories are made for the carts like them. What's nice too, is people were even able to add the seperate drawer units to them to make it more of a small tool box..

I'm not a pro mechanic, it's not my trade, BUT the quality of the HF boxes and carts are better than many that cost a lot more.. For the price, I think it's worth a shot. I would def get one if I had a legitimate use for it.. I wish I did..

I have been using the HF 5 drawer cart at work for over a year and a half. No failures yet. It gets rolled around daily on rough surfaces and the casters are fine. Top cover struts still work like new. There is no better deal on a cart as far as I'm concerned.

I 3rd the HF 4-5 drawer carts. Both very very sturdy with good casters and slides. You can get 2- 4 drawer carts for 200 bucks right now.

Best thing with the HF though. If you don't like the casters that much, check out the others they have in stock and see if you like those casters more (and if they'll fit). Buy them, pop them on, and roll with glory.

I was in this same situation, as I had been looking for a good cart for a while. I just picked up a Cornwell 4 drawer and so far love it. Very happy with my purchase.

Harbor Freight 5 drawer red one is amazing for the money. Its on sales sometimes as low as $164.00 and it made a believer out of me. Its well built just as good as any truck brands if not better for the fraction of the price.

I love me some Snappy, but hell, my wallet's only so deep.

For the price of a Snappy or equiv, you could buy 2 HF carts filled with HF ratchets and leave one on each side of the shop.

I had a hf 4 drawer cart. worked great. Ran out of room fast. Got Blue Point 27" tool chest. Filled that up faster.
Now im in a Sunex full drawer roller. Love it, room to spare, and still organized.
