i have this mac cart. it ***** stay away from it! the maneuverability is terrible, i bought it new and thought its unsquareness was a good idea to keep it from tipping. although it stabilizes the cart when all drawers are open, it does the opposite when they are closed. the back square side gets loaded. it rocks back and forth when i open drawers and when its pushed it wants to go right and have to fight it across the shop and i can here and feel a wheel not making contact with the ground or fully loading. which has led to blown casters on the square side, 3 of them! in less than a year. i traded in my old blue point cart that i owned for 2 years that i bought from a co worker who had it for 2 years also and the never had an issue except for when i smashed the lid.long story short im sick of trying to fix this with mac along with my other tool box head ache with them, i will soon trade it in for a snap on krsc33 once i have the funds for a down payment.

stay away from mac

So I went to the local Napa for parts two days ago. He has the 8050 or 8051 cart there. It's new, but has been sitting there for 2 years.

What is the going rate on them, anybody know?

Well HF got 8000 employees in the US, snap-on got 11500 (world wide) so if you buy HF items you support the US economy too in some way....and you can buy other stuff for the money you have saved. If you buy a used one off of CL you support the economy too if the seller buys something with the money he made and doesn't send it to the cayman islands or switzerland.....

So, don't worry about COO, buy whatever fits your needs, is of decent quality and isn't over priced.....

I know you did not make these numbers up and that you have an open source for them.

Please post the link to where you are citing this data from.

I had coupons for both HF carts and went by the local HF to check them out. The body of both are the same width, 30", the extra width being the handle or tray or both. The black one less deep and shorter than the red one. The lid on the black one had simple elbow hinges versus the hydraulic shocks on the red one. The lid on the black one was tweeked so it was difficult to close. Hopefully that was just a problem with the floor sample. The red one has locking drawers. You'll need a truck to take home the red one. It comes in a huge box.

I have been looking for something used on CL but nothing even comes remotely close to these coupon prices, $99 for the black and $169 for the red.

I wanted to mull it over some more. A guy was there with his son eyeballing the black cart and the basic $75 cart and pretty much decided on the later.....until I showed him the $99 coupon and gave it to him. He got in line and picked up the black one.

I love my KRSC46. I used to wheel it around at the old job, but it pretty much stays in the same spot at my current shop since I have 2 lifts to myself.

It is surprising how many people shop at HF and don't use coupons since they are so readily available.

Every time I shop there, I have a coupon for every single item I'm purchasing PLUS a coupon for a free item (flashlight, tape measure, shears). It does help that the HF is within walking distance from work... so I can go multiple times just so I can get at least 20% off on each item.

BTW - I have the red cart and would highly recommend it. It's a very durable cart... just the assembly is a little tricky. Plus, if you decide you don't like it, you could probably sell it on CL and get most of (if not all) your money back (advertise it as assembly included). :)

I have one cart and ordered a second one today from my SO dealer. Here are links to them:

I put all the tools I am currently using in my small cart. I am planning on using the second cart to place parts and fasteners that I pull off of cars on/in.

At the end of the day, I clean and put all of my tools back in my main toolbox, a SO Classic 78.

If you could get it for $350, it would be a good deal.

i have the black one myself, with a couple of the big HF magnet bars attached to the lid, one on the leading edge when closed, or top when open, and one on the inside of the lid. commonly used tools live there, sockets in use, etc, plus all my magnetic lights and **** hang off the lid too, still straight and strong. i think they like to use returns/crushed crates for displays. i might would buy the red one for the height next time. had mine for a couple yrs no issues.

way to pass it on too btw.
