Does anyone else get a kick out of browsing tool catalogs?

So far I think Craftsman's is my favorite, although I look forward to Enco and MSC's monthly deals flyers as well.

I get so many tool catalogs that my wife has a fit when I leave them in the bathroom. :)

That's a woman thing that men wouldn't understand. I get a few catalogs every month - each one makes my wife ask why we need more catalogs. My response: I can't buy something if I don't know where to buy it from. I also can't do all of the things on the almighty honey-do list without buying some new tools.

I get some sort of catalog almost every day. Tools, car parts, truck parts, shop equipment, garage items, industrial supplies, etc, etc, etc.....

Me too! And they all have the same items month after month. I end up tossin' them
in the round-file. Once you buy something from one of them, your address gets sold to several more Companies that send out the freebies. I consider it "kindling for life".

I have a bunch and I cannot get myself to throw any of them away!!!!

I finally tossed out several stacks of old catalogs I kept, and I am continuing to toss a good many out. Yes I still have a modest pile but nothing like years ago. What I cannot seem to part with are my old car mags, I have them easily going back into the 1970's and I cannot bring myself to part with them. I used to keep them al piled in boxes till I got uppity and bought a 4 drawer office file cabinet and filled it with them!

What I REALLY want to get my hands on is a new McMaster Carr catalog!!

Small Parts also makes a pretty nice little components novel-sized catalog.

Most men have a auto library in the bathroom.

Women like to see for them selfs. This is why they go to every store and buy nothing.

Men look in a catalog, scope the item out, then go buy it.

Try this, Store the catalogs in the garage. Next outing to HD, Lowe's, Sears. Take your wife into the tool department. Start picking up tools like you are going to buy. Then go to the next one, then to the next one.

By the weekend she will have a bookcase in the bathroom . :lol_hitti

I really prefer perusing a catalog as compared to the web. No matter how user friendly a web site is, it isn't the same as thumbing through a catalog. I've discovered so many things I didn't know existed. With most web sites you almost have to know what you are looking for first. Plus even a laptop in the bathroom just won't work, let alone a desktop.:bounce:

i have three stacks about 3ft high of catalogs by my desk, more in the shop. unless you have a laptop they are better than the web for those personal moments on the throne.

My wife won't come with me to any of those stores without a fight, and if she does and I look at a hand or power tool the wrong way, she forces a beeline towards the exit!

I've taken my laptop to the bathroom before if I couldn't take a break from whatever it is I was doing or reading. What'll really get me into trouble is if I ever get a compact tablet-pc.

Multi-tasking at its finest.....:lol_hitti

In college, a few of my buds would head into the bathroom in the school of music, armed with newspapers, and take what we called a "conference ****." During the course of defecation, they'd discuss the news. You didn't want to go into the bathroom while they were in there because you'd find yourself dragged into the middle of a conversation or an argument while trying to take care of business.

I guess I'm not so free-spirited anymore. :lol_hitti
