I am talking to the owner of this chest, I didn't get a name/make, but he says he's had it for a while. Bunch of 30yr old Cman sockets, Gray wrenches, and other quality tools comes with it.

I am picking it up Monday, along with other tools, but curious what type of chest it is.

Any ideas from the few pics I have.

thanks for any & all help

it looks like my Beach top box on steroids. the one you are looking at might be the full depth of the bottom roller which is nice. wouldn't want it for a bench top because it would take up the entire bench.

tools look pretty decent, but you determine the deal since you didn't disclose the asking price or more details on where you are located and stuff like that. here's pics of my Beach box so you can see the handles are similar. the bottom box in my picture is a Waterloo which your box is not.

good luck

sorry, east of GTA, Ontario, Canada.

He originally wanted $250 for the chest & all tools in it.
I added a bunch of other tools from his ad
belt sander, large drill, all C clamps, few little things for $350
I'll bring bit extra in case other pieces catch my eye while I'm there.

oh, and thanks for the info. you're right, it looks like your Beach.

It's a Beech made 12 drawer top. They made them for Mastercraft and others. As to why it's Gray i'm not sure, never seen one that color before.

thanks folks
very helpful indeed.

I was happy seeing the tools, figured the chest would be gravy, or just a handy extra place for spares/extras... wasn't expecting it to be such a good piece.
maybe put it into "lathe tooling" duties

Saw the ad on Kijiji. Too far for me to drive but it definitely had caught my eye and was hoping someone from here would get it :)

Post more pics when you pick it up!

$250 really be pushing it, Maybe $125 for a good deal, for $350 you could buy 90% of that brand new

Ignore. He's one of those who really knows nothing, but opines on everything. Unfortunately, the GJ now has many such "experts".

The box alone would fetch $250, never mind the high-end tools it includes.

Beakie: I agree with the majority that the boxes are good boxes and those tools included for $250 is a very nice deal. good luck and i hope the other goodies you are getting or will find are equally as good.

don't worry folks, I wasn't hoping for praise/approval/confirmation/etc... so debbie downer has no influence on the decision I had already made.

I really was just curious what kind of box it was, as I couldn't see a name, and didn't want to put the old boy out trying to find one.

I appreciate peoples opinions, but location plays a large part in having to pay more/less for tools that others pay +/- for.
So if I bring home some good ole USA made Craftsman, Canadian made Grays, and a Beach chest with various other names (Hoppe, I found out, is German) and pay a little extra, or equal to what someone else is paying for SnapOns... meh, small potatoes in the grand scheme of things.
I consider paying a man good money for his quality tools that have been well looked after during his time with them a solid investment of my money. I can only hope to pass them to my boys, or sell them to another appreciative young man if mine don't want them.

I'll add some better pictures once I have everything home.

almost forgot, the guys name is Tom, oddly enough one of my personalities name is Tom (the day to day one) so he and I... and him, have that in common! He's good people based on that alone.

Picked the chest & other tools this morning

WOW, am I glad I found that ad.

The chest is a Craftsman Top & Bottom, pretty sure it was a Beach made, but for Sears Canada.

Chalk full of really good (and a few not so great) hand tools.

I am going to add all the pics to my "Collection" thread found here

just got home after weekend night shift... so pics will come through out the day
