I bought a used 42" Craftsman tool chest, top and bottom. Top box had a few battle scars so to am refurbishing it. Painting, changing locks, had to bend it back due to it being a little racked.
My question is ,I'm thinking of changing the lid lift to gas struts. Wondering if this is doable, and what angle to mount the struts. I have been looking at pics of newer boxes that have them and it looks like different manufacturers mount them in different ways. Any pics of your attempt to do this would be great. Thanks

That's a great point that I have already considered. Being that I do t want to spend a ton on the struts and the cheap ones won't last I forsee me not changing them. Thanks for the input. Now to finish painting it.
