Anybody have an idea about this chest? It was my grandfather and based on my moms age when he passed it has to be 55+ years old. It has no numbers or name anywhere I can find.

Very nice box and glad that you're keeping it! Huot boxes come available from time to time on CL so keep looking. It is my opinion that most people that list Huot boxes don't know what they have so you're likely to find a good deal out there. Good luck!

That is intersting. I never saw anything but drill indexes from Huot.I guess they found a niche. They are the only maker of good indexes I can think of. Lots of cabinet makers.

I think it is because of the color combo and the lack of embossing on the bottom of the drawer cover for the Huot decal.

I think that may be an earlier version, pre swoosh embossing, of a Hout roller.
The early boxes just had a thin stylized water decal of the Huot name.
That would fit with the handle style.

That is the original Huot color scheme.
I have top and roller. Same color.
