I know the question of what do you use to clean and maintain your tools is brought up quite often. Well, I recently ran into an Ace Hardware just browsing and came upon Superzilla cleaner and lubricator. Been using it to maintain my tools and absolutely love the stuff. It’s kind of high but for how well it works and for no ill effects on my Matco and Carlyle rubber grips, I’ll keep using this. Did a search and hadn’t seen any other reviews so thought I’d put it here.ab490723c701acecad4073fa14e8dd25.jpg

Good info, especially if it doesn’t hurt the handles. I have some faded handles from chemicals such as brake cleaner. Ive found Awesome works pretty good and it’s only $1.

How would you compare this product with WD40? I know a lot of people use WD40 for cleaning and protecting tools, so wondering if this is a similar product / chemical, or something different?

Similar but better at cleaning, less of a greasy feel the WD and also less of a harsh smell. I love the smell of WD but get tired of it after awhile. I liked this stuff enough I ordered the spray bottle and 2 more cans

I too use wd40 to clean tools. Mostly cordless tools and it works very well.

I use ballistol for all my hand tools. Works great and doesn't harm plastic or rubber.

This stuff is phenomenal, most my tools look like new after months of using them at work, but I clean them at the end of each shift, so maybe that's part of it. The superzilla looks pretty good too. I don't like WD40, not sure why.

I use the Snap on tool wipes. They go on sale from time to time, do a good job, and I can usually clean all the tools from a job with one wipe. Makes them look new again and prevents rust. I'm sure some other company actually makes them.

About 20 years ago, I use to buy some stuff at a mom and pop auto parts store that was marketed as tool cleaner spray. It came in an aerosol can and, as I recall, it had an orange/citrus smell. It came in a taller can like Gunk, or the big cans of Brakleen, but I can’t remember who made it or what it was called. It was the best stuff I ever used. I moved away from that town, or I’d see if I could find it again. I know I haven’t given you guys much to go on, but any ideas what it might have been?

I use Zep to clean and either PB blaster or WD40(whichever I happen to have) to protect. And sometimes just regular old grease works great to protect them from rust too.
