Tool Comedy

I throw all the Chi-**** in a plastic tote when I buy toolboxes. Posted the FULL tote on CL for free to the first person to arrive at my shop this morning. Three "gents" arrived simultaneously.......there was tackling involved.

Next time that tote is full I'm definitely setting up a camera.

I do the same but load up a 35 gallon garbage can full probably about 250 lbs and sell it for $50. Usually fill 2-3 year. I was doing the same thing but I figured why not sell it. I get about 10 texts the first day and it's gone in a day or 2.

Funny. I use Chinese tools and just about everyine else here as well.

But I would see no reason to beat on another guy for them.
Free must be quite the bait to cause battles.

Where do you get free tools from buy a tool box? I've never seen that unless you're talking about Harbor Freight? I bought a Snap On box for my home and my driver gave me a beach towel, some hats and a FLL80L ratchet to show his appreciation.

Around here, if you put a "FREE" sign on something sitting by the road, it'll stay there.
Put "$50" and it will be stolen within 15 minutes.

Yeah, twertsy has a slight toolbox problem. There might be a model or two of a box he doesn't have yet.

I'm currently storing my "leftovers" from buys in a bin, sometimes a friend will come by and grab something they need out of it, I'd been planning on hosting a yard sale when our community had one but I wasn't prepared in time, I would have thrown the bin up for 20$ and taken pretty much anything for it.

I've been giving away all my Chinese tools to the helpers & apprentices at work (steel mill). I can't bear to throw them away but I have no desire to try selling any of it. I like Twertsy's idea!

I don't have the patience to deal with CL clowns. I give them to the Salvation Army, or throw then in the scrap metal. Gave a whole batch of the better ones to the boy across the street last year, he was pleased with them. Had to buy a tool box full this morning to get a carbide sheet metal nipper and a few other things I wanted. Had a bunch of old tools in it, including some williams, some P&C and some Stanley along with a bunch of old rusty non-descript stuff. Unfortunately, I moved last week and got rid of my scrap steel can. Have to start another one. The guy wouldn't let me leave the box and take the stuff I wanted, said he wanted it gone.

LOL!!! A video would have been hilarious.

We had a problem once with Chipmunks raiding our bird feeder, so one day I greased the pole with wheel bearing grease. My wife and I were laughing so hard watching them that we forgot to get a video to share.

The guy wouldn't let me leave the box and take the stuff I wanted, said he wanted it gone.

I dont blame him. Sometimes people sell things because they are trying to weed out the garbage/mess that they've been collecting for years. Or maybe an estate sale for example. They genuinely want the stuff gone.... regardless of money/profit. His goal was to probably make a dent in his hoard, not to sell things only to have them remain after the sale. Lol

They will all be harbor freight tools and honestly with the exception of that one set 99.9%of my tools are Chinese made because that is what I can afford. To each their own and it is totally your right to put them in a scrap bin but there are alot of young guys that are just trying to get together the money for a few sockets.


I mean no offense to anyone....I'm just not a racist [emoji14] ....I like all tools no matter what nationality they are lol

And honestly some of the Chinese tools are not that bad.

They will all be harbor freight tools and honestly with the exception of that one set 99.9%of my tools are Chinese made because that is what I can afford. What's your top secret location? I have a very large tub of imported sockets I use when I need a sacrificial socket to weld or grind on, sometimes use them in the press. Any young guys near me need some sockets I'd let them pull some out.

I'm not asking for handouts lol I'm finally getting to the point that I can afford to start getting nice tools. I expect most people that like tools are proud that they worked to get them like me...I'm just sad to hear of tools going to the scrap yard.

I lost the use of a barn that I had for 10 + years. I ended up with 8 5 gal buckets full of china made tools that I took to the scrap yard. All the yard workers were digging through those buckets. I don't think many went to scrap.

No shame in having China made tools. We all start somewhere and the tools coming from China are better than ever. I remember the old China stuff and it was pathetic. I bought stuff from HF and use it regularly. The pliers set is the best deal going. I use them for traveling so I don't lose the good stuff. Yes I have very nice USA tools from the best brands BUT they are not necessary to get the job done.
