Real estate isn't the the point. I'd rather work out of those boxes than ones with piles of wrenches pliers and screwdrivers. Nice peace of mind to not worry about my tools walking away.

To a certain extent, I agree, but I could be better. For instance, a proper sized wrench rack will be far more condensed and offer the same quick ID of tools in the box. I don't need 2' to lay out 15 wrenches [or however many they had]...I'd need about 4 of those boxes to lay out every single tool like that.

Quite a bit of it could be condensed, look at the hammers, why not flip them over every other hammer to save space? Because it's not as pretty?

This is great for those that like to look at tools more than use them or are only needing these exact tools to do their everyday work. For someone like a mechanic, you'd be torn up in cost and need a lot more box to hold what you need to.

Isn't the point of these setups to be able to verify that all tools are back in the box after a job? Aircraft mechanics?

Yes, it makes it quick to verify all contents are in your box before you sign off your job on the aircraft or aircraft support equipment.

It's also to limit FOD from entering or existing the box. With tight fitting foam you will be able to see clearly loose hardware or clipped safety wire.

In my early days as a young airman in the air force I had to do a lot of 30 day inspections on tool boxes and the first thing I did was grab a shop vac to vacuum out any loose dirt and FOD.

In my personal box at home and where I work now on transit trains I don't use foam at all. There is no need I'd rather have more space for future tools.

Nice layout choices, yes they do take up a lot of space but.... I personally prefer the wrenches laying down flat so one can easily read the proper size. Granted this takes more room but this is my preference!
Thanks for sharing :)

These are sweet. Lots of variation. Not all tools are just one brand, eiher. I see wera, bahco, stahlwille, maybe some others in there. Also they have some portable kits as well as the bigger boxes.

Thanks for posting.

I used this method for years. The fast cap foam (which I learned about on GJ) is fantastic stuff. So easy to work with a cave man could do it.

If time is money this system allows you to find stuff quickly and you never lose tools. Highly recommend.

2" drawers are helpful:I look for used Craftsman cabinets with 2" Grip Latch drawers and swap them into my cabinet and then resell. I have more shallow drawers in my box and this allows almost no wasted space.

Whew, that makes for a nice presentation! Definitely tickles the OCD in me. I considered doing something like this (having foam cut based on a CAD file) but, as already stated, its not space efficient. Maybe someday when I have space for an additional or larger chest.

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1422225154.854615.jpg. Made by eva foam sheets! Really nice and durable! Before I made these I was cutting in thinner kind of foam material, but it was to weak, so I bought the real deal!

That sure is a sharp looking wrench drawer.

Thanks:) Stahlwille openbox 13(short) and open box 14(long with offset)! I want original foam from some kind of toolbrand, but they has to little room in them! If I would use that in my wrench drawer it has been room for absolut maximum 2 sets! With my own inlays its are 3 full sets up to 40 wrenches:)

One of my many many drawers of foam shadowed tools. These are cut on CNC router by foam fit tools. I have posted these before.

^^^^^WHAT HE SAID^^^^^ They look great, just not for me. Too much wasted space...sorry. But yes, they are gorgeous.

Yes those are just amazing. I love seeing American goods being used over seas. I'm sure that they are using foam to ensure speed and efficiency. Also since they are just buying the best tools in the world they are not like us normal Americans. We buy 10-20 cheap hf ratchets in a quest of a bargain. They appear to just buy once and cry once. I'm guilty of this too. That's we we need huge cheap tool boxes. To store the stuff that didn't live up to expectations.

While I understand certain jobs require tool control; the amount of wasted space in those boxes is nearly criminal.

Additionally; what's with all the screwdrivers? I probably own less than 10 all together. Between bit attachments for my ratchets, and a screw gun, why would one need a screwdriver?

We should all just dump our sockets and tools in a bucket. It would sure save space

ChrisPace, I have quite a few Snappy tools, in fact I don't own one HF tool. But to waste all of that space IS criminal in my mind.

I already need a stool to see in the top of my tool box....the box I would need to use all of those foam inserts wouldn't fit in my garage.

Sorry if that upsets you.

I don't like wasting space either, but if being ultra efficient and being able to get the job done fast = more money in pocket.

Fully Agree!

And even more, that it IS beautiful! Just not for everybody. Now, if they could "crowd" a few more tools in there.... :D

I will say Thank You for sharing the pictures, I do appreciate looking!

These Snap on boxes are amazing. They set a benchmark for productivity. Every tool you could ever use and you could walk up to it and find it 10 seconds. Wasted space or wasted time just trade-offs I guess. They also set another benchmark for best looking toolboxes ever. If the mechanic my market had a box like that he would be famous and efficient. I've lived part of that life where I use my toolbox just to dump stuff in like a bucket. I see the value in this type of organization. In today's world were so many companies of been laying off The mechanic that was this efficient and organized is probably going to be the last one to go.

I agree. A lot of it is about presentation. Organizational skills are a HUGE factor to employers.

It also gives you a reason to order a HUGE box:rocker:
