I will be in Germany with a few days free, and would love to visit tool dealers that have the big brands like Hazet, Gedore and Stahlwille. I have been to the big chain stores before, but would instead like to find a more specialized hand tool place. On my last trip, I had a really hard time finding anything with stock. I will be in the Stuttgart area, but have a car, and am willing to travel.

Thanks!

There are some good smaller tool stores in Germany that carry the pro brands. I haven't found many that carry a lot of Hazet and Stahlwille but I'm sure they are out there. Wera, Knipex, Wiha, Gedore are more common. There are also some larger regional home improvement stores that carry some pro tools. Obi, Globus, Hornbach are equivalent to HD and Lowes and have some top brands but carry Promat, WGB, Proxxon, and Lux for wrenches, sockets and ratchets.

I'm not familiar with stores around Stuttgart in particular. A quick Google search for Werkzueg Stuttgart has some promising mom and pop stores. Carl Göckelmann Eisenwaren, b+z Werkzeug, etc.

The Hazet website also has a store finder search: https://www.hazet.de/de/storefinder/

Stahwille store search https://www.stahlwille.de/de/haendler/?no_cache=1

I'm not sure how much they stock if they are primarily ship to store.

Also check for flohmarkt "fleamarket" if you are there on a weekend. You can find a lot of used pro brands for dirt cheap. eBay kleinanziegen is the Craigslist equivalent but is only in Deutsch. also Facebook Marketplace is used heavily over here. Prices are kind of higher than expected on both sites normally.

When you say the big box stores in Germany, were they any of these? Many of these have a ton of hand tools. Problem is the prices are not much different than getting the same thing here. Can save a few bucks if you file for the vat/tax refund at the airport. I will be visiting many of these places in July.

Baumarkt
Hornbach

I have been to:
-Bauhaus
-Baumarkt
-Hornbach
There were some nice things, but lots of Chinese and Taiwanese tools making their way in. I am hoping to find some higher quality stuff that I can not get in the USA easily.
