I don't post much here but do read your post. I am a tool distributor and I just started making YouTube videos and looking for content ideas. If you have any suggestion please let me know and I will add it to my list I have been working on. Thanks for any help.

Here my channel if you want to stop by and take a look. Also bear with me as I get my footing and video editing down. It will get better..! (I hope) LOL

THANKS...

I had to turn it off because of the music.

I’d much rather hear a tool guy talking about the business side, new releases, feature used boxes you get in, etc.

I just got through watching most of your videos. I'd be interested in seeing some core Matco tools like the SMCXLM10T extra long metric combination wrench set or the SAE equivalent. If you could take one of the wrenches out and show it from different angles, that would be cool.

Also, I'm big on sounds. If you could record the sound of the drawers opening and closing on a Matco toolbox; that would be great. And maybe take a Matco 88 tooth ratchet and record the sound it makes while turning the gear with a socket; that would be fantastic.

+1 on the Matco 88 ratchets.
Maybe compare a old Armstrong made ratchet gut kit with the newer made kits and show the differences and why the newer AJ kits are better made than the older ones.

Maybe ask some of your best customers if you can film them doing some common repairs using your brand of tools. It would show your tools in action and show a repair(s). Probably only an indy shop would let you do this and not a dealership.

Ask some of the techs to explain why they choose Matco over other tool brands.
It would be nice to see them in action, but that may take too much time from the core business.

Less house music, static shots with pans, chit chat, flyers. More hands on tools comparisons and reviews. Don't worry about being biased since you are a dealer. Nearly all YouTube tool "reviewers" are sponsored. Highlight what sets Matco apart from its competitors.

OP, you ask for content ideas but you don't state what your goals are. Why are you doing the videos? To drive sales? Just as info-tainment?

YouTube can be lucrative by itself if you get enough subscribers.

OK, so OP needs to ask "what will set me apart from all the other tool truck youtubers out there"...

In general, the trick is to put out A LOT of content.

Make some videos highlighting why a guy might buy from you instead of online, showcase the services you provide, whether it be replacing screwdriver blades, or taking in a trade in so a guy can upgrade. There are alot of videos of people going on trucks making purchases, it would be nice to get the dealer perspective and how you deal with issues such as what to stock your truck with, how much overhead is involved running a truck.

I can give you an example of what NOT to do:

That Cornwell distributor on Koon's Trucking. All he shows are Milwaukee power tools and rebranded tools not made by Cornwell. I can go to Milwaukee's website if I want to see Milwaukee tools. One day he was showing a set of GearWrench precision screwdrivers. Big frickin deal, I can see those anywhere. I really don't think he has any Cornwell tools on his Cornwell truck. He might not even know what Cornwell makes.

Really, i started my first business in 83, i didn't ask anyone for ideas, i knew better than anyone what i wanted to do. I actually knew what i was doing and how to do it.

As an observation, if youre commited, get a real camera to start with.

Nothing wrong with videos like this. I wouldn't be interested. But nothing wrong with having both tool videos and tools business videos. Just label them so people can avoid the ones they aren't interested in.

Technical teardowns are very interesting. Please don't just repeat the merchandising b.s. they showed you to fool your clients with. Real, objective comparisons. Some of your stuff is going to be better than the other guys, some isn't. Don't feel bad about that just show us what the winners are.

This is the absolute best way to showcase. Why does the specific tool make the job gravy when the other methods are a big pita? That's how the real YouTube mechanics sell tools. Once you see something do a job easier and faster than anything else if you anticipate ever doing that job you will buy it unless you absolutely can't afford it.

I got a question for the OP:

FlatRateMaster has a YouTube channel. He bought a Revel X with the hutch and side locker. He says that when mounting the side locker on, the Matco dealer had to remove the right side corner trim off the roll cab. He said the Matco dealer told him that the side cabinet won't mount to the roll cab with the existing corner trim in the way, so it had to be removed in order to mount the side locker. I'm having a hard time believing that. Surely, Matco would've made some kind of provision to allow either the corner trim to be left on, or have a replacement corner trim for use with a side locker installed; wouldn't they?
