thought this might be fun

i know everyone has done this atleast once.
one time i left my good expandible oil filter socket sitting on an engine. a few months later i found a good pair ot nipex side cutters on a frame rail. i figure that was a fair trade.

I left a pair of C-clamp vice grips on a frame once, a few weeks later i found a 1/2 snap on torque wrench under the hood of a Mack truck we were changing the body on, seems like a fare trade :spit:

Not sure what I have lost exactly where under hoods, but I have found a nice SK long handle screwdriver as well as a Klein mini wire cutter under my hood before.

I found a complete tool box full of tools(scattered about 200 feet down the road)
I work for the water company and am on the road a lot.
Seems I misplaced a pair of channel lock pliers a while back.
I`m good with that.

Thanks Paladin, that doesn`t happen often, usually just a screw driver, wrench or maybe a pair of pliers.
The most expensive thing I ever found,(not counting a wallet-full of money) was a hand held scanner.

I left my Craftsman toolbox full of ~$500 tools on my tailgate. I had a lot on my mind that day and took off down the road without closing the tailgate. Realized I had lost the toolbox when I was about 5 miles away. Retraced my steps and never found them. I had my name on the box, but I had just moved and my old number was not in service. A guy found it and tried to call me, but couldn't reach me. I put an add in the paper lost and found, not believing anyone would call even though I offered a reward. The guy called and brought me the toolbox and would not accept any reward. Said he hoped others would return the favor to him if he was in the same situation.

Perhaps we need to start a tool exchange NOT thread.

Left my longest beater pry bar under the hood of a junked Cordoba at a Pick-Your-Part about a year ago. I have to watch myself too, since I still leave prybars under hoods.

Never found anything really good under a hood yet.

While doing some repair work on my Impala, I found a whole set of Allen wrenches in the door. I still can't believe they didn't rattle! Later, when I was about to sell the car, I dropped an 8mm wrench in front of the battery. I remembered it as the guy was pulling out of the driveway with his new car. It was a cheap ole raised panel Craftsman. I guess it was a fair trade?

I found a 36" Snap On screwdriver/pry bar under the hood of my old Chevy van years ago. It was a not so even trade for the years of carb repair work I had to do on that thing!

left a SO screwdriver under the hood of a milk truck. Never saw that again.Dropped an 8mm 1/4 socket inside and Intrepid engine bay. I tried to get it out but never found it

I found an 18mm 1/2 SO flex impact socket sitting on a front lower table on a caravan. I also got a blue point hammer I found sitting on the road.
