I worked with three Kurts, a Curt, and a Kirk. Somehow (well, I AM 6’6” tall and about 340) I ended up with Big Kurt, which got shortened to BK. And I like the number 13.

I have always loved Cougars (the car, that is- this was before people called ***** middle-aged women cougars). My mechanic/racing buddies and junk yard operators can never remember my name, but they always remember my cars. So they always called me "cougar" or "cougar-man".

Back in the 90s when I joined AOL, your username could only be 8 characters max. "Cougar", "CougarXR", and "Coogar" were all taken, so I opted for "CoogarXR". It's been my online name, just about everywhere, ever since.

I grew up in the woods near a small town, and when I went to a small, elite liberal arts college I was not shy about extolling the virtues of outdoor life, including hunting and fishing. My Freshman year I had a dorm advisor who was an elitist Anglophile who thought opera was the highest form of art. He described me as being "militantly Provincial." By which, he meant boorishly backward, ignorant, and aggressive about it.

I agreed with him. ;)

Was a dealer for Pi Research a division of Cosworth engineering before they divorced the club line.
In years past when Pi data systems were common on race cars a common call at the track was get the Pi Guy we need him.

My avatar from another forum is a red vise.

Mine is self explanatory unless you don’t know tractors. My dad put me on the tractor at 9 years of age, disking and plowing corn fields ,them mowing hay. He did that so he could get other things done., like repair the seeder or fences etc. I did a complete overhaul on a poppin John Model A at age of 13. Learned by watching the mechanic at the dealer working on my uncles tractor.

I experimented a lot ant tore up some things. Found out what ******* on a spark plug feels like.

Mine should be self explanatory. I like all things mechanical, tools, cars, welding, machining, etc. It just stuck for screen names over the years.

All the guys operating equipment in the military in the construction battalion we where in together started calling me Doc when I'd come to "heal" their "sick" broken junk. We where heavy equipment. One my guys in my squad of wrecker / service trucks / bat-mobile painted my screen name down the side of one of our trucks during a deployment....when the internet came around and I joined a forum, it was the first thing I thought of for a name that wasn't too much the same as a CB handle!LOL.

Its a play on my name and the first car I bought myself.
Protege5 was the car. The suffix in my name is IV. Been using that name on forums and my email for almost 15 years.
