Tool for crimping pipe

I was wondering if this tool is suitable for joining copper pipes using the crimping method

I'm mainly interested in it because it works with Makita batteries and I own several Makita tools

Viega ProPress in the US is gaining popularity and I believe only Rigid is available to "us".

Katie - In the link you provided, it appears to only support pex piping copper or stainless bands to affixing the fittings to pex pipe. As stated above the Pro-Press fittings in the photo you posted need the special rigid tool to crimp the fitting.

Any "special" fitting cost a LOT more than standard ones.

They make copper fitting that have the solder already inside them. Clean, flux, heat. They cost 200% - 300% more than a plain copper fitting.

PEX is great, except where you have to use a lot of elbows to get around tight corners. Those brass fitting are a lot more expensive than plain old copper !

I'm seeing a more stuff being installed with propress... the time savings from sanding/cleaning/fluxing/soldering is huge. The downside you can't reheat the joint to take it apart or reposition.

They even have it for gas (black pipe). The tool is the expensive bit.
