I inherited an old craftsman 6" Jointer (103.23320) that seems to be in good condition and Im in the process of of rebuilding the old wooden table it came with and I am working on a custom dust extraction hood underneath it to collect some of the dust. Unfortunately it doesn't have its tool guard (part number 21170).

I know this comes up from time to time, but has anyone successfully found a replacement for the tool guard?

Is it possible to get another companies guard to work with it or to make one?

Most of these old jointers don't seem to have a guard, so i guess they probably are not used a lot, but just feel better having one on it. I would appreciate any hints at finding something that works.

Lots of guys running around with 3 or 4 fingers too, maybe a correlation to not used a lot?

Wood or Delrin would be my first two choices, and make your own. Aluminum plate if you are handy in metalworking
