What is this thing called/for? The center is likely hollow since the tool is light and it appears to be made all from one piece of steel (spring? it appears to be strong and durable). We use it in the auto repair shop to cut/break through silicone sealer stuck to rubber "worm" gaskets, such as snaking this tool between a timing cover and an overhanging valve cover so you can slide one cover out without removing the other.
It belonged to a coworkers late father who was a glazier but it is unknown if it is related to that trade.
