My friend who likes to stump me by trying to get me to figure out what an old tool is gave me this yesterday. I have no idea what it is and what it's used for. This is a picture of both sides. Can someone help? Thanks.

I took another look at it this morning and noticed some writing. I didn't notice it yesterday. I wonder why I cleaned the brass top and saw the name C. Brombacher, Tarrytown N.Y.

Looks like an old bead roller or seamer of some kind to me.

Unfortunately there was no clamp. He got it from a Flea market like that. I'll have to rig something up.

I just dragged home this little foot operated sheet metal shear made by C. Brombacher of Tarrytown, NY. Brombacher had a paper shear patented in 1864, and some tin working patents in the 1870's. There is no patent date or number on this machine. I know my pics are not great, as I ran out and...
