As far as the torch, you may have a hard time finding much about it as there were many manufacturers back in the day. Also, just so you know....not worth much. You can pick one up fully polished for around $40 tops, and for around $7.00-$20.00 unpolished.
They make a great shelf display and that is about it. I've given away 4 or so to friends, and still have 4 on my shelves of different styles. I think the irons soldering irons for them are more collectible than the torches are.
And that is what the hook is for. The soldering iron hangs in the flame, and the hook keeps it from dropping down. Also the torch uses "White Gas" and NOT gasoline. White gas is like Coleman Fuel.
Polish it up, and sit it around as a reminder, then pass it down.
