One of the items in my toolbox for the last few years, and I have a few hanging around the shop as well, are CAT tourniquets. I don't want to ever need to use one but I have students and myself to look after with a bunch of machinery and hand tools.
In addition I have gauze to pack wounds and the usual boo-boo kit type stuff with the good cloth bandaids and anti-bacteria goo.
So far, every time I've injured myself, I have been alone and no one coming to patch me up, so I have to be prepared to stop the bleed prior to bleeding out on my own.
Worst one so far was slitting a finger on a four pronged mortise chisel. Sharpening it on a stone and the chisel stuck by I didn't. That was painful.

I've put a hole in a couple car seats when younger by forgetting I had a screwdriver in my back pocket, lucky I didn't puncture something worse!

I got a great deal on a great condition 2 year old Volvo back in my college days because the previous owner did exactly that and put a 6 inch rip into the back upholstery on the driver seat. He was so upset he let the car go for half of what a new one would cost. A buddy of mine asked why I was putting my work keys in the trunk of my motorcycle. I explained that before I ride I empty all of my pockets, as I don't want my keys and pocket knife embedded into my testicles.

That's one reason I prefer to use a tool pouch of some kind. Nite-Ize used to have some decent ones for various tools. I've also used CLC, Ripoffs, and Occidental.

From the article, it shows the accident happened because he fell while he had it holstered in a belt attached pouch.

Yes, but the picture shows it was holstered in an open top pouch. I have a Nite-ize pouch with a flap on top. I think that is what Bubba Fett had in mind.
